What’s the Best Protein Source for Dogs: Meat, Meat Meals or By-Products?

How Much Protein Does a Dog Need Per Pound of Body Weight?

How much protein your dog needs can vary. Approximately 1.2 grams of protein per pound of body weight, or 20-27% crude protein, is enough for a moderately active adult dog. Any unused protein will be either stored as fat or excreted in urine.
